We are pleased to announce a series of four workshops focused on learning Naka Style rope bondage. These workshops are meant to be taken in order, as one builds on the other, starting from complete beginner to full suspensions. Our classes feature detailed instruction, bottom and top roundtables, and a non-dogmatic approach emphasizing individual creativity and connection. The Prep Workshop will focus is on fundamental tying techniques. In particular, the participants would gain knowledge and skills in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- rope flow\/handling\/tension;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- square\/granny\/half-hitch knots;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- mixed directional knots, x friction, and reverse tension;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- simple loop tie;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- double column tie;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- single column tie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Day 2 builds on the skills learned in the Day 1 to gain knowledge in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n- uplines attachment and management with the focus on the bamboo, rope management in a clean way;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- tying parts of the body together (idea of seme experience);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- basic body mechanics and movement, tying different kinds of bodies, and active bottoming;<\/li>\n\n\n\n

The Gote Essentials workshop is devoted to studying the most fundamental tie in the Japanese rope bondage style: hands tied behind the back. We will also study other building blocks for Naka style shibari and introduce the concept of semenawa progressive experience with a few basic floor and partial suspension ties. We will teach the secrets for a sustainable iconic 2-rope Nakastyle TK\/Gote: shoulder lock, placement, and tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Building on techniques we have covered in the Prep 1 and 2 workshops, participants will gain knowledge and skills in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe word \u201csemenawa\u201d has been tossed around in the rope bondage community with various expressions such as \u201cbeing tied in semenewa\u201d, \u201csemenawa style\u201d, \u201csemenawa ties\u201d, etc. The primary goal of SRMs is to uncover the meaning of semenawa by discussing how this tying style is not about rope technique or pattern, but rather about the intentional mutual journey that both partners embark upon as they tie. Every meeting would be focused on specific topic, the discussion about these topics would be typically followed by two tying demos that would emphasize the individual nature of a semenawa experience. We aim to have monthly SRMs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unique and intimate nature of this meeting would allow participants to discuss, observe and ask questions throughout the meeting, as well as taking photos from various vantage points during tying demos. Upon the completion of the demo sessions, the attendees may share their photos to be discussed and gain additional insights into dynamism and aesthetic of Nakastyle semenawa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Every meeting would be focused on specific topic, the discussion about these topics would be typically followed by two tying demos that would emphasize the individual nature of a semenawa experience. We aim to have monthly SRMs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unique and intimate nature of this meeting would allow participants to discuss, observe and ask questions throughout the meeting, as well as taking photos from various vantage points during tying demos. Upon the completion of the demo sessions, the attendees may share their photos to be discussed and gain additional insights into dynamism and aesthetic of Nakastyle semenawa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Gote Essentials workshop is devoted to studying the most fundamental tie in the Japanese rope bondage style: hands tied behind the back. We will also study other building blocks for Naka style shibari and introduce the concept of semenawa progressive experience with a few basic floor and partial suspension ties. We will teach the secrets for a sustainable iconic 2-rope Nakastyle TK\/Gote: shoulder lock, placement, and tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on your skill level, we will come up with an appropriate curriculum that will develop the hard skills (tying techniques\/aesthetics ) and soft skills (tying a partner) for semenawa (tormenting rope) sessions rooted in Nakastyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n- Lessons will be offered at KinbakuOdyssey Studio<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Two hour minimum ($100 per hour)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Weekend workshop is two days of instructions (5 hrs per day) ($900) \u2013 recommended for out of town students<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Weekend workshop can be split between two tying pairs at the same cost <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\nPERFORMANCES\/SEMENAWA RESEARCH MEETINGS (SRM)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\nPerformances<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\nSemenawa Research Meetings (SRM)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe word \u201csemenawa\u201d has been tossed around in the rope bondage community with various expressions such as \u201cbeing tied in semenewa\u201d, \u201csemenawa style\u201d, \u201csemenawa ties\u201d, etc. The primary goal of SRMs is to uncover the meaning of semenawa by discussing how this tying style is not about rope technique or pattern, but rather about the intentional mutual journey that both partners embark upon as they tie. Every meeting would be focused on specific topic, the discussion about these topics would be typically followed by two tying demos that would emphasize the individual nature of a semenawa experience. We aim to have monthly SRMs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unique and intimate nature of this meeting would allow participants to discuss, observe and ask questions throughout the meeting, as well as taking photos from various vantage points during tying demos. Upon the completion of the demo sessions, the attendees may share their photos to be discussed and gain additional insights into dynamism and aesthetic of Nakastyle semenawa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

These workshops are meant to be taken in order, as one builds on the other, starting from complete beginner to full suspensions. Our classes feature detailed instruction, bottom and top roundtables, and a non-dogmatic approach emphasizing individual creativity and connection. In particular, the participants would gain knowledge and skills in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Day 2 builds on the skills learned in the Day 1 to gain knowledge in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Gote Essentials workshop is devoted to studying the most fundamental tie in the Japanese rope bondage style: hands tied behind the back. We will also study other building blocks for Naka style shibari and introduce the concept of semenawa progressive experience with a few basic floor and partial suspension ties.
